Saarbrucken / Berlin, March 4, 2008 - Sirrix AG, one of the leading experts for customized security solutions for telecommunication systems and infrastructures, and GSMK Gesellschaft für Sichere Mobile Kommunkation mbH, technology leader in mobile voice encryption, today signed a partnership agreement to bring mobile phones, private branch exchanges and conference systems under the roof of a common encryption protocol. This will allow travelling mobile phone users as well as users of ISDN and VoIP private branch exchanges to secure their confidential telephone calls with the strongest encryption algorithms and key lengths available on the global market. By implementing the common GSMK CryptoPhone® encryption protocol across the product range of both companies, Sirrix' renowned BRI and PRI / E1 ISDN security gateways and encryption modules as well as its secure ISDN and VoIP PBX systems will become fully interoperable with GSMK's secure mobile phones, satellite phones, and secure mobile terminals. It will thus be possible for travelling executives and officials on the road to communicate securely with their headquarters back home, and participate in fully encrypted multi-party telephone conferences - regardless of whether the fixed-line participants are using proven ISDN or next-generation VoIP private branch exchanges. The published and fully verifiable CryptoPhone® encryption protocol features a 4096-bit Diffie-Hellman key exchange and 256-bit AES and Twofish symmetric session encryption. It has thus set the mark for military-grade, customer-verifiable encryption protocols. The protocol has proven itself in thousands of installations worldwide, and is establishing itself as a leading multi-vendor protocol for encrypted communication across network borders. "The last years and months have shown that the interception of confidential telephone calls has evolved from a niche industry once reserved for government and law enforcement agencies to a major everyday threat. Recent technological advances have greatly decreased the time and money required to intercept and decode telephone calls on fixed-line as well as cellular networks. When confidential information is at risk, it is not only good business practice, but utterly necessary to protect this information along the entire transmission path using strong encryption. We have thus joined forces with Sirrix to provide our clients with the ability to make secure calls all the way to Sirrix' first-class ISDN and VoIP PBX and conference systems", says Björn Rupp, Managing Director of GSMK. "With its published source code concept and fully verifiable encryption products, GSMK is the partner that we have been looking for to offer our clients a trustworthy mobile extension of their encrypted fixed-line communication channels", says Ammar Alkassar, Chairman of the Board of Sirrix AG, commenting on the new partnership. "By implementing a common crypto protocol and providing full interoperability with GSMK's secure phones for mobile and satellite networks, we can offer international clients the full depth and width of secure encrypted communications across all network borders - regardless of whether they use GSM, satellite, ISDN, or Voice over IP." Sirrix and GSMK expect the first compatible products that feature full interoperability to be released in late autumn 2008. Oberursel / Berlin, March 5th, 2008. Utimaco Ð The Data Security Company, and voice and message encryption specialist GSMK (Gesellschaft für Sichere Mobile Kommunikation mbH), presented the first fully integrated PDA and smart phone security solution at CeBIT, the worlds largest technology trade fair in Hannover, Germany today. The new CryptoPhone SMT Secure Mobile Terminal solution provides 360° protection and encryption for data residing on the mobile device as well as encryption of voice, SMS and e-mail messages exchanged using the device. By combining the latest version of data encryption and authentication software SafeGuard PDA 4.25 along with the CryptoPhone Security Profile Manager in the PDA firmware, data on the mobile device is protected against external attacks, theft or loss, or even a hard reset of the device due to SafeGuard PDA's protection mechanisms.. At the same time, the GSMK CryptoPhone software on the mobile device encrypts confidential phone calls as well as SMS messages, thus protecting the user's communication against unauthorized interception and bugging. The new solution is available immediately from GSMK. The Secure Mobile Terminal all-in-one solution combines the strengths of the latest release of SafeGuard® PDA and the GSMK CryptoPhone® voice and message encryption software. The features of SafeGuard PDA 4.25 include completely transparent file filter encryption that protects data in PDA memory and removable media against unauthorized access. Additionally, it offers an easy encrypted data exchange between PC and PDA platforms via memory cards or e-mail with full support for Microsoft MSFP and Exchange Server. Flexible, centrally enforceable security settings and configuration rights for end users are also available. The latest release of SafeGuard PDA® also dynamically selects country-specific emergency numbers based on the configured time zone and a policy file. The latest release of GSMK CryptoPhone® software in turn offers military-grade encryption for telephone calls as well as text messages, featuring support for self-destructing "Eyes Only" SMS, smart folders, and a fully encrypted storage subsystem for secure messages and keys. "The increased use of smartphones and other advanced mobile devices in business as well as government has made the increasingly sensitive information that is stored on these devices a delicate matter. Recent spectacular eavesdropping attacks against top-level executives have also imposingly underlined the fact that telephone calls as well as text messages are equally at risk of being intercepted and used for unlawful purposes", says Björn Rupp, Managing Director of GSMK. "SafeGuard PDA lets users be assured that the sensitive data on their mobile devices is secure, even when the device is lost or stolen. We are glad to take the partnership with Utimaco to a further level with the introduction of our Secure Mobile Terminal solution." "Because modern-day PDAs and smartphones contain such sensitive data that protecting them has become a business priority, SafeGuard PDA® gives mobile users peace of mind when travelling with their PDAs. With GSMK's voice and SMS message encryption, we are pleased to extend that protection to all communication channels used on modern mobile devices", says Ansgar Heinen, Head of Product Marketing at Utimaco.
